John Rice

I began my work in the ministry at the age of 16. I attended Alabama Christian College where I received an Associate of Arts Degree in Bible. I continued my education at Lubbock Christian College in Lubbock Texas where I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Bible.  I have served as minister and youth director at several congregations in Texas and Alabama.

For the last 39 years, I have served as director, managing director, and co-managing director of Backwoods Christian Camp. I have worked in the timber business, the cabinet business, the liquidation business, and have been willing to do whatever it took to continue the work at BCC.

10 years ago we begin to establish camps in other countries. We now have camps in Cambodia, Tanzania, Kenya, and Guyana. Our goal of establishing camps throughout the world is becoming a reality.

It has been my great joy to be a part of these good works and I hope to continue serving for as long as my health will allow.  Though there have been many great challenges, I have been blessed with a large family which now includes 17 grandchildren. I love my wife, Denise, and my children very much and hope Heaven for them above all other things. It is my goal to preach and teach God’s Word for as long as the Lord will allow, and then…heaven.
